cinder hill beside the roadAnother cinder hill next to the road. There's no problem finding great views of volcanic activity, and the Lava Flow Trail has a 1/4 section that is paved and fully accessible.

A look but don't touch hill. Sunset Crater Volcano is closed to hiking, but you can hike to the top of Lenox Crater. I hadn't thought of it, but the ranger on duty said that this rock is so soft that hikers wear down the craters, creating a visible change in heighth of Sunset Crater over the years.

A pull-thru camping siteHere's one of the camping spots at Bonito Campground. The campground is generally open from March through October, weather dependent. Maximum vehicle size is 35 feet, no hookups. There were pull-throughs and back-ins, and one handicapped site.

A site with picnic table and the restrooms. The campground is a one way loop. Here you see a picnic table and the restrooms in the background.
The camp host ice freezer. The camp host has a locked freezer and I gather sells ice during the normal season.
