 While you're expecting a large hole in the ground at Grand Canyon, there are many nice meadows and forest access areas on the way down hwy 67.
Most areas are accessible to cars and RVs, though some of the roads are marked cars only.
The road to
Point Imperial has varying limits. I made it in a 33' RV, but was very glad there was no traffic on the road.

The most popular stop is near the Grand Canyon Lodge and called
Bright Angel Point. Here you see the Roaring Springs Canyon, which leads into the Bright Angel Canyon.
This sign told me that while I was impressed, there were greater things to come. 
The red striations in Roaring Springs Canyon make this a fascinationg and colorful view.
